Today is a gift.

A great piece for all to read it will take just a minute to read this and change your thinking. Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up,he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it.In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully,he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said,"Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Moral Of the Story:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared,is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Today is a gift, that's why it is called the present."

Abeg make we laugh.

After a night of drinking,Martins crept into bed beside his wife who was already asleep. He gave her a peck on the cheek and fell asleep. When he awoke he found a strange man standing at the end of his bed wearing a long flowing white robe."Who the hell are you?"Demanded Martins,"and what are you doing in my bedroom?"

The mysterious man answered,"This isn't your bedroom, and I'm St Peter".Martins was stunned."You mean I'm dead? That can't be,I have so much to live for,I haven't said goodbye to my family.... you've got to send me back straight away."St Peter replied,"Yes, you can be reincarnated, but there is a catch!.We can only send you back as a dog or a hen."

Martins was devastated but knowing there was a farm not far from his house,he asked to be sent back as a hen.A flash of light later,he was covered in feathers and clucking around pecking the ground."This isn't so bad,"he thought until he felt this strange feeling welling up inside him.

The farmyard rooster strolled over and said,"So you're the new hen.How are you enjoying your first day here?

"It's not so bad,"replied Martins,"but I have this strange feeling inside like I'm about to explode."

"You're ovulating,"explained the rooster,"don't tell me you've never laid an egg before."

"Never,"replied Martins.

"Well, just relax and let it happen."And so he did,and after a few uncomfortable seconds later,an egg popped out from under his tail.An immense feeling of relief swept over him and his emotions got the better of him as he experienced motherhood for the first time.

When he laid his second egg, the feeling of happiness was overwhelming and he knew that being reincarnated as a hen was the best thing that had happened to him...ever!! !The joy kept coming, and as he was just about to lay his third egg,he felt an enormous smack on the back of his head and heard his wife shouting,

Martins!Wake up,you drunken bastard, you're shitting on the bed."

There comes a point in your life, when you realise who matters, who never did,who wont anymore, and who always will.So don't worry about people from your past, there is reason they didn't make it to your future.

Olympics

In the 2004 Summer Games in Athens Michael Phelps only won 5 Gold Medals. This was such a tragedy that the news media hounded him for his failure. He was trying to enter the ranks of those who have won 7 golds at a single Olympics like Carl Lewis and Mark Spitz.Alas, the guy got only 5 Gold Medals.A supposed tragedy!

When interviewed about his failure to make 8 golds in swimming and beat Spitz' record he said ..."My goal is one Olympic gold medal. Not many people in this world can say,'I'm an Olympic gold medalist.'"Isn't it amazing how a single shift in perspective can make something like the monumental achievement of 5 Olympic Golds seem ordinary? My jaw almost dropped right out of the socket when I saw that the news media was spinning his win of 5 Golds as a failure.

Phelps is making another run for it now in Beijing and I'm rooting for him.As I write this he has 3 golds and the games aren't even half over so he has a fighting chance. The only tragedy will be if the media diminishes this young man's greatness - no matter what the outcome. It probably won't bother Michael Phelps a damn bit.I mean,it seems that he is relatively un-phased by way the news media treats him and he just keeps his eye on what's important to keep improving himself.

Little by little he gets better and better every day and, news media can go to hell,he's going to do his best - whatever that best may be.The only tragedy that ever really happens is when we stop improving - when we stop believing in ourselves ...Just watch the Olympic athletes and you get a sense of this.Under the greatest possible pressure they stand there with grace and,win or lose, they keep their composure. Can you imagine the preparation it must take to make oneself that way?

In the spirit of the Olympics,Let's take that little every day tragedy in our lives - the tragedy of not believing in ourselves,of giving up,of listening to the doubts of others, and "make it right."

How do you see yourself?

Do you like yourself?most people really don’t like themselves. Some of them know it, while others don’t even have a clue that this is probably the root of so many other problems in their lives.

Do you feel insecure, unwanted neglected, unneeded worthless, and unloved?.Are your loved one ignoring you and won"t take time to listen to your feeling? don"t believe that negative thoughts from anybody always remember that you"re valuable, you"re good hearted, you"re needed, you"re the most loved, you"re wanted, you"re wonderful, you"re beautiful, courageous, you"re thoughtful, you"re the sweetest, you"re sincere, you"re important and absolutely the greatest.

Don"t ever let anyone tell you anything different. You"re wonderful, important ,beautiful and the greatest, and you"re VALUABLE.Before you there is no one like you, after you there will be no one like you,you are a unique product of God designed for special purpose.Anyone taller than you is too tall and anyone shorter than u is too short, you are perfect for your own purpose, always remember SMILE AND THE WORLD SMILES WITH YOU,CRY YOU WILL CRY ALONE.

Nigeria (The last Revolution)

The whirlwind of revolt will continue to shake the foundation of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

At least our leaders who call themselves politicians and leaders of our great nation "Nigeria" are aware of the plundering and deprivation of basic amenities to the masses which are consequences of corrupt leadership......they are supposed to be the examples of moral values not to us but to their children, rather it"s the opposite....I wonder what will become of their children (the only value they inherit from their daddies or mums are "my parents embezzled funds meant for constructing roads, electricity, schools, housing, agriculture and improvement of infrastructure"s.Basically it is alright if we do the same..f**k Nigeria) These are the Iboris,Odilis,Obasanjos,Tafas,Babangidas,Alams etc the elites of the nation,a nation without roads, good schools and not to mention a regulated banking system.

Children are the birth and future of a nation,If the adult can not guarantee their education and provide them basic infrastructure"s to develop them into adulthood and structure them to become good leaders and servants of our great nation then we might as well contemplate in burying the nation (No children No nation).

We as human beings in New Naija club will not stand by and allow some ingrate illiterates cum politician to shape our future. But in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds.

God Bless Nigeria!!!
